Hi there. My name is Katie Crown and I am a writer-slash-comedian from Canada. Thanks for visiting me here on The Internet…
Bio:
Katie grew up in Oakville, Ontario. Then she moved to Toronto for university. Then she wanted to do comedy instead. Now Katie writes and performs comedy, and her university degree is hanging up safely at her parent’s house. Currently she resides in Brooklyn, NY.
Some appearances she’s made include Andy Kindler’s Alternative Show at Just For Laughs, UCB’s Comedy Death Ray in Los Angeles, Comedy Central’s Comedians Of Comedy Tour in New York City, and the Purple Onion at the San Francisco Sketchfest.
Katie is also a co-founder and producer of Laugh Sabbath, a weekly comedy series that happens every Sunday at the Rivoli in Toronto, “…featuring the best of the city’s young standup and sketch comedians.” (National Post)
She is half of the critically acclaimed duo, The Remainders, and Phillips & Crown, one quarter of the award-nominated sketch troupe, Knock, Knock. (Who’s There?) Comedy, and is the voice of a few cartoon characters, including “Izzy” from Total Drama Island.
Some other HOT TIPS:
- Katie has opened for Zach Galifianakis and Paul F. Tompkins.
- Solo winner the 2004 Tim Sims Encouragement Fund Award, at the nationally televised Cream Of Comedy, and was the only person to ever be nominated twice in the same year (for both solo performance, as well as with sketch troupe, KK(WT)C!.)
- Once played a pregnant teenager being interrogated by none other than Hollywood bombshell, Vivica A. Fox.
- Katie is a talented puppeteer. She has lent such skills to Mr. Meaty, HOTBOX, and The Jon Dore Television Show, as well as in the comfort of her own home.
- Loves those shows on the Food Network where they competitively make sculptures out of cakes. You really have to see it to believe it!
